If a potentially catastrophic event happens within your organization, is your team ready, capable, and willing to take control of the situation?

Cynthia Sharp Myers, a Strategic Coach® participant and avid Free Day enthusiast (she takes 150 Free Days a year), got her answer to this question last summer when her team went above and beyond during a crisis.

“My team is where it happens,” Cynthia explains. “The goal is for me to step away, and for the business to keep running.” That was put to the test last August when her business partner suddenly quit the company — right after Cynthia left for Free Days™. “On the first day of my vacation, my business partner unexpectedly announced he was leaving the company,” Cynthia says. “By the time I came back, the stationery was redone, the sign from my office was redone, and the offices were reorganized. My team did that — not me. And it’s because I empowered them and gave them the authority to take action.”

For Cynthia, having an empowered team that understands what’s important is key. “I’m happier not having to worry about what’s going on in my office,” she says. “I’ve got capable people taking care of things, and the business is exceedingly successful and secure.”
