The Freedom of Money

Obstacles to freedom.

One of the key freedoms that inspires people to become entrepreneurs is The Freedom of Money — freedom to make increased amounts of money doing only those activities that you excel at and love. But the guilt tied up with the topic of money makes it difficult for many entrepreneurs to make the most of this freedom.

Our culture has a lot of sayings about money: It’s the root of all evil. Money makes the world go ’round. You don’t get something for nothing. Don’t become a “sell-out.” The messages conflict, so confusion is natural.

In reality, money is a reward for the value you create. And the best way to create the most value for the most people is by doing what you love, the things that bring out your best and get you great results. This seems too easy for some people; they feel like they’re pulling a fast one. But it’s okay to charge for doing what you love, and clients don’t care how much effort it takes, as long as what you’re doing creates value for them.

Retire now.

Chances are, there are things that you really enjoy about your business, things you would be happy to keep doing for the rest of your life. So retire now, in the way that only entrepreneurs can retire: from everything else that you don’t like doing.

If you could focus on doing just the things you love and give away the rest, you would stand to make a lot more money. So the funding for your “retirement” is handled. By giving up what you don’t love, you also give someone else an opportunity to do what they love. You can build a passionately committed and creative team this way and extend your own capability through the skills of others — multiplying your ability to produce results and your business’ ability to work for you without your constant involvement.

Using The Freedom of Money, you can fill your whole lifetime with meaningful, enjoyable activities.

For many people, retirement means putting up with a lifetime of doing what they don’t like doing only to reach a void. Given the freedom they long hoped for, many don’t know what to do with themselves and end up, as the saying goes, “either playing gin or drinking it.” Using The Freedom of Money, you can fill your whole lifetime with meaningful, enjoyable activities. You have earned the right, purely by virtue of the value you have created and the risks you have taken, to make lots of money doing only those things you love.
