Life Before Strategic Coach®
When I think back to what my life was like before I joined Strategic Coach, it’s so apparent how “stuck” I was. I was being totally consumed by my business, and I’d convinced myself that it was necessary for me to have a hand in everything being done. I was a self-proclaimed control freak, and I didn’t trust my team to handle anything without my supervision and micromanagement. I was working, on average, 90 to 100 hours a week and couldn’t bring myself to focus on anything other than work. I had absolutely no freedom.
I have fond memories of Ben, my sales associate who convinced me to make the commitment to Strategic Coach, calling and telling me the reason I needed to join the Program was because I had no time. I couldn’t even make sense of what she meant. And I was so busy, I wouldn’t even take her calls. I would just tell her to email me and I’d think about it! I had no idea, and didn’t believe, that there were more effective ways to operate than what I’d already been doing.
Looking back, Strategic Coach is one of the best things to happen to me. It’s helped me surpass what I thought possible financially and, personally, it’s opened up an entirely new world for me.
Learning How To Be A Real Leader
I think when you’re extremely driven and committed to succeeding, it’s easy to get caught up in the mindset that you should be doing everything yourself.
However, I realized shortly after joining the Program that I wasn’t putting any trust into my team. I was a perfectionist and refused to believe anyone could do anything better than me. I thought I could execute everything better on my own and was essentially running my business as a solo entrepreneur. But this was really only harming me, my relationships, and our growth as a company. Essentially, I was the bottleneck in my own company.
I’ve learned to let go, and using the Strategic Coach tools and models has opened up my mind to what’s really possible. I now have 100 percent faith in my team, and I’ve been able to delegate activities that I hated and would drive me crazy. My team is outperforming me in every task I’ve passed along to them: Where I could only dedicate a certain percentage of time, they have all their time to focus on achieving this single goal. In turn, this has allowed me to focus on what I’m great at and love doing, and to empower my team to focus on what they are great at as well.
By empowering my team, I can now call myself a leader rather than a crisis manager trying to do everything myself.
Back To Being A Dad
My biggest transformation, by far, is what Strategic Coach has done for my personal life. I have a five-year-old daughter, and I’m a single parent. Before I joined the Program, I was so overwhelmed with work, I could barely find any time to spend with her. I was constantly hiring babysitters and nannies. Today, all of that has changed.
I now have the freedom to pick her up from school every day, and I’ve structured my life to allow me to spend every weekend with her. There’s no amount of revenue that can replace that. Strategic Coach has given me the life I always dreamed of having when I became an entrepreneur.
Words Of Wisdom
Old habits are hard to break, but with patience, and the help of Strategic Coach, I was able to chip away at them every quarter. I eventually came to a point where I was able to look back with confidence at everything that has changed. My advice to entrepreneurs who are struggling would be: Stop hesitating. Don’t overanalyze every possible outcome. Trust that the Program works, with incremental improvements every day, week, and month. And just go for it. You won’t regret it.
