What personal information do we collect when you register an account?
If you register an online account with us, you will be asked to supply the following information:
- User ID
- Company name
- Business title
- Email address
- Phone and fax numbers
You may log in to this account when you wish to purchase products from our Knowledge Products store.
What personal information do we collect when you order online?
If you do not have an account registered with us, you will be given the option to register an account or complete the purchase without registering an account. If you wish to complete the purchase without registering an account, you will be asked to provide the following information:
- Email address
- Phone number
- Credit card information
How do we use and store the above personal information you provide to us when you request information, register an account, and/or order online?
We will maintain your personal information in a secure database. We do not use the information in the database for any purposes other than facilitating your future orders, or to permit us to notify you of products, services, workshops, and features offered by Strategic Coach®.
We do not store your credit card numbers or expiry dates in our database. Consequently, each time you choose to purchase an item, your name and shipping address will be pulled from the database, but you will have to re-enter your credit card information to complete the order.
What personal information do we collect from you when you apply for a workshop?
To become a participant in the Program, we ask that you complete an application form and provide us with the following personal information:
- Company name
- Birth date
- Email address
- Business phone and fax numbers
- Home phone number (for emergency use only)
- Description of your business
- List of professional/trade associations to which you belong, if any
- Information regarding:
- Your personal income level (within a range)
- Credit card information (or cheque)
Additionally, you will be asked to submit an income verification form completed and signed by your accountant, or submit a copy of your most recent T4, W2, or P60 form.
How do we use the above personal information collected during the application process?
We use the personal information you provide us in order to place you in the workshop most appropriate for you. By using your information in this way, we ensure that you get the most benefit out of your participation in the workshops.
Your contact information also allows us to keep in contact with you regarding your progress throughout the quarter and to notify you of relevant new products, services, and features offered by Strategic Coach®.
Opting out of receiving communications from us
If you do not wish to receive communications from Strategic Coach®, you can opt out of receiving such communications by either following the instructions in each such communication or by contacting the Strategic Coach® Privacy Office (email address below) at any time. It may take up to ten days to process a request received by email or telephone, and six to eight weeks to process a request received by mail.
If you change your mind and would like to start receiving communications from us again, you can do so by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our policy regarding sharing and accessing your personal information
Strategic Coach® does not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer the personal information you provide to us to third parties. We may allow authorized third party service providers access to your personal information to perform services on our behalf. Our service providers are required to provide privacy protection comparable to ours and to limit their use of such information to providing services on our behalf. These service providers may be in another country, such as the United States, and the personal information may be subject to disclosure in accordance with the applicable laws of that jurisdiction, which may create a different privacy regime from your country of residence.
Our policy regarding the disclosure of personal information
In very limited and exceptional circumstances, privacy law permits the use or disclosure of personal information without an individual’s consent. For example, consent is not required if personal information is used or disclosed in an emergency that threatens an individual’s life, health, or security. In such cases, we may have to use or disclose your personal information without your consent.
When you participate in the Program, your professional and/or personal contact information (e.g., your name, address, email address, and telephone number) will be given to other participants in your workshop, with your consent, through the distribution of a “Roster” posted on our client site. This site is only accessible to current clients and the Roster will be visible only to participants in your specific workshop series.
Please note that other clients placed in the same workshop because of their respective income range may know your income range.
Transfer of personal data overseas
Given that the Internet is a global environment, using the Internet to collect and process personal data necessarily involves the transmission of data on an international basis. Personal information may be stored in servers hosted in countries outside Canada, including the United States. As such, your personal information may be subject to the laws of other countries, including the United States, where the data protection and other laws may not be as comprehensive as those in Canada. Personal information may be disclosed in response to inquiries or requests from government authorities in the United States or other countries in which we operate.
Therefore, by browsing our website and communicating electronically with us, you acknowledge and agree to our processing of personal data in this way.
Retention period of personal information
We retain personal information collected from you when you request information, register an account, apply for a workshop, and/or order a product online for a period of 15 years thereafter.
We retain this information for the following reasons:
- To inform you about new products, services, and features offered by Strategic Coach®;
- To ease your renewal into the Program upon the completion of each workshop series year;
- To be better able to chart your progress through the workshops;
- To determine if a new client has been referred by a former or current client; and
- To facilitate your re-registration into the Program after leaving the Program. We know from experience that former clients often seek to re-register for the Program either within several months, or even several years, after leaving it.
Our website uses per-session cookies, which are commonly used tools to facilitate the exchange of information between your browser and our server. These cookies allow us to present, and you to view, certain graphic elements on the website.
Per-session cookies are stored in memory while you are visiting the website and are set to expire from your cache 120 days after leaving our website.
The per-session cookies do not provide our website with access to anything else on your system, including private information about you. Our website can only retrieve the per-session cookie.
You can set your browser to detect and reject cookies by taking the following steps. However, please note that if you choose to reject cookies, you will not be able to view all graphic elements on our site.
- Choose Tools in the menu bar, then Internet Options
- Select the Security tab, then click the zone you would like to change, followed by the Custom button

- The name of your Internet Service Provider, its Internet Protocol address, and the name of your Service Provider’s server. (Strategic Coach makes no attempt to link these addresses with the identity of visitors to our website.)
- The length of each visit.
- The number of requests per visit.
- Your type of operating system, e.g., Windows, Mac, Unix, etc.
- Your browser type, e.g., Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, etc.
The information is collected by the server in an aggregate format so that we can assess those pages that are most frequented by visitors of our site. We do not link this information with the identity of any visitor to our website, to any of the information you voluntarily provide when you visit our site, or when you become a participant in the Program. Accordingly, Strategic Coach® will treat any information shared between your browser and our server as non-personal information.

Our website may contain links to other websites. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you will be leaving our website and entering another website. We encourage you to read the privacy statements of these linked sites as their privacy policies may differ from ours. Including a link to a third party website on our website does not mean or imply that Strategic Coach® endorses the third-party website.
Strategic Coach® takes all feasible and reasonable precautions to protect the personal information that we collect from you. Every staff member must sign a Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement wherein he/she agrees not to improperly use and/or disclose any personal information about clients or other individuals who have contacted Strategic Coach®. Also, your personal information is retained in a secure database, which is only accessible by password and is protected by the use of firewalls.
Workshop sessions monitoring
Strategic Coach® may monitor and record your workshop session for quality assurance and staff training purposes. These recordings are voluntary and you are not required to participate in them.
By using the website, you consent to our collection and use of non-personal information such as cookie information.
